“A human being is part of the whole — called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature.” - Albert Einstein

BUILDING A VIBRANT COMMUNITY

HELLO, NEIGHBORS!

The ME=WE Initiative stands as a beacon of life of harmony and cooperation, aiming to support Changsin-Dong (창신동) neighborhood through community-building activities.

This initiative revolves around the belief that the neighborhood is the place where all the best efforts of goodwill for a peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous world can most efficiently turn into reality. Every member of the community, whether youth, senior,  child, adult, is a valuable asset the community possesses; everyone matters. The growth of each individual is deeply intertwined with the betterment of the community. The endeavors for self development and for the enhancement of the environment should go hand in hand. Simply put, "ME=WE".

We strive to answer the question of ‘what are we IN for’ living in this urban city facing challenges that require collective solutions, believing that everyone has a role to play. Neighborhood-based activities include art, study, consultation, service projects that foster meaningful interactions and actions among neighbors. The vision is to create an effective space for all who wish to build healthy and vibrant communities in urban environments, imbued with a genuine desire to serve the community, by extension, humanity.

Join us in forging a new model of community life where spiritual conversation and service to others go hand-in-hand. Each of our core community-building activities aims to foster inner transformation and create wider circles of inclusion. Together, neighbors cultivate a sense of collective ownership for the spiritual, social and economic well-being of their community.

JUNIOR YOUTH SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT

The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP) is a global movement inspiring young people, parents, and community members to work together toward a better world.

The age group of 11 to 15-year-olds represents a special time in the life of an individual, as the young mind leaves childhood behind and undergoes profound change. This empowerment movement effectively cultivates knowledge and skills in junior youths to develop their potential, enhance their power of thoughts and expression, and channel their energy to intellectual and spiritual growth and service to the common good which will prepare them to participate effectively in the affairs of their communities.

Groups of 7-10 junior youth are formed and facilitated by animators, trained individuals, who serve as mentors and role models. The themes the participants will be studying are cooperation, unity, service to humanity, truthfulness, striving for excellence in their lives and for the community, and justice.

“I can find the materials really benefiting me because in the material ‘Breezes of Confirmation’ you find motivation and it gives you some vision to work for your goals and what you are supposed to be.” - JY participant

“My aspiration is to make this society change. If I look at society, I see that most of the junior youth have been badly ruined by social problems. So I’m trying to make these junior youths know that they can change, and they can transform the society in the future so that it can be a good society. When you transform a junior youth at the age of 11 to 15, they become so much more equipped, spiritually and intellectually. They have the ability to solve so many problems in society.” - unknown animator
